A Shelter from the Storm

2020 has been a year of storms. Would you agree? As Hurricane Delta swirls in the Gulf of Mexico, I can’t help but think of all the storms that have swirled around us. You don’t have to live in Louisiana to feel like you’ve been hit hard. From COVID to cancer, from chaos to uncertainly, from elections to divisions, is your heart anxious? Do you feel threatened? Are dark clouds swirling? 2020 has been a year of storms.

So I hope you’ve learned to run to your shelter. You have a shelter! “You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat” (Isaiah 25:4). God is our refuge in distress. God is our shelter from the storm. God is our shade from the heat. Isn’t that exactly what we need in 2020? A shelter from the storm? Jesus faced the storms of sin and wrath and death for us, so that you can face the storms of life with confidence in God’s forgiveness and hope in eternal life. As the dark clouds continue to swirl, you are not alone. Run to your shelter! Jesus is our shelter from the storm.
