A Work in Progress

You’re a work in progress. Do you realize that? Let me clarify: You’re God’s work in progress. Here’s what Isaiah learned to say to God: “You, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand” (Isaiah 64:8). We are all God’s work in progress.

A lot of our anxiety in life comes from a misunderstanding. We think that God is done with us. We think that we’re looking at the finished product. We get it in our heads that once we grow up and become adults, God’s work in us is over, right?

No! You’re God’s work in progress. You’re not the finished product yet, and you won’t be until you get to heaven. What you see in your life today is just one chapter on the way to eternity.

God is still forming you, like a potter forms clay. Whatever trial you’re in the middle of today isn’t the end of the story. God’s refining you and leading you to trust in him. Whatever heartache you’re experiencing today isn’t going to last forever. God’s cutting something away to one day reveal something even better. If it seems like there’s got to be something more than what you see, there is!

You’re a work in progress. God’s work in progress. So say with faith, “You, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
