Calm for Our Anxious Hearts

Do you ever feel anxious when you wake up in the morning? Sometimes you don’t even know what you’re anxious about, but your heart aches. Your mind races. “What are they going to think about me? How can I ever get all this done? What if they don’t forgive me?”

Here was King David’s prayer when anxiety filled his heart: “To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. Do not let me be put to shame, nor let my enemies triumph over me. No one whose hope is in you will ever be put to shame” (Psalm 25:1-3). Where did David find calm for his anxious heart? In God.

Actually, he knew exactly what he needed in anxious times—God’s Word. “Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long” (Psalm 25:4-5). Our hope is in God our Savior all day long, and no one whose hope is in the Lord will ever be put to shame. May Jesus calm your anxious heart today!
