Christians in Unlikely Places

You can find Christians in the most unlikely places. King Ahab was one of the wickedest kings of Israel. His wife Jezebel put to death as many of God’s prophets as she could find. But do you know what the Bible says about Obadiah—the man in charge of King Ahab’s palace? “Obadiah was a devout believer in the Lord” (1 Kings 18:3). Those are some of the most surprising words in the Bible! Wicked King Ahab’s right-hand man was a faithful believer in God. He served his king, but he found ways to let his light shine and work behind the scenes to save God’s people. In fact, Obadiah secretly hid 100 true prophets of God and protected them from wicked Queen Jezebel. You can find Christians in the most unlikely places.

I bet many of us can relate. How many of us serve in companies or live in places with un-Christian bosses or leaders? What do we do? We ask God for the strength to serve faithfully, and we look for God-given opportunities to protect fellow Christians and share the love of Christ. Like Obadiah, may Jesus your Savior and his Word strengthen you to be a devout believer in the Lord in whatever place God has placed you in life. No matter your position in life, I’m thankful God has put you there. We need more Christians in the most unlikely places. Like Obadiah. Like you! May God bless you in your place today.
