Don’t Give Up Doing Good

It doesn’t seem like it does any good to do good. Have you ever felt that way? Often, it seems like no good deed goes unpunished. At the very least, it doesn’t seem like good deeds get noticed. Are you getting tired of doing good? My sinful impatience wants quick results. It wants instant recognition. When that doesn’t come, it doesn’t seem like it does any good to do good.

The apostle Paul understood that struggle in our hearts, so God had him write these words for us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). I’m glad God never gets tired of doing good to me. Every day brings fresh forgiveness and undeserved blessings. Even more, he sees every little thing that we do out of thankfulness for his grace.

There’s an African proverb that says, “Bit by bit makes a bundle.” God’s able to take the smallest good deeds and turn them into a rich harvest for his kingdom. So don’t ever become weary of doing good. The God who’s saved you is using you in ways you can’t see to be a blessing to others. Don’t give up!
