Fear the LORD

There are so many fears. So many warnings. So many conspiracies. We’re pulled this way and that. Whom can we trust? Whom should we fear? Here’s the answer: God! Fears and warnings and conspiracies aren’t anything new. Here’s what God spoke through Isaiah 2,700 years ago:

Do not call conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; do not fear what they fear, and do not dread it. The LORD Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread” (Isaiah 8:12-13).

Don’t fear conspiracies. Don’t fear people at all. Fear the LORD! Seek his truth. Focus your heart on his Word. When you do, you’ll realize something: If you fear the LORD, there is nothing else you need to fear. No matter what happens in our world, nothing can snatch you out of God’s hand. No matter what people do to you, nothing can undo what Jesus did for you on the cross. So don’t fear what other people fear. Stand in awe of God’s grace to you in Jesus, and know that there is no one else you need to fear.
