Forgiveness Is Hard

Forgiveness is hard, isn’t it? How many of the struggles in your life are a result of not being able to forgive—or someone else not being able to forgive you? People like to say, “I can forgive, but I can’t forget…” That’s not very comforting, is it? Forgiveness is hard!

I’m glad God is not like us. Here’s his promise: “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more” (Hebrews 8:12). Unlike us, God doesn’t just forgive our sins, he forgets them. When Jesus died for you, he took your sin away for good. It’s never going to come up again. It’s never going to come back to haunt you. Forgiven and forgotten—that’s real forgiveness! Could Jesus’ forgiveness for you help you forgive someone else today?
