As you grasping for something certain? For something you can count on? As life changes so rapidly around us, each new day brings new surprises and greater challenges. Are you longing for something that stays the same? The coronavirus is reminding us how temporary so much of life really is.
But there’s Someone who isn’t. Old, wise apostle John, who had been through a lot of crises in his 80+ years of life, wrote this encouragement: “I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning” (1 John 2:13). Fathers—and mothers and daughters and sons—you know Someone who is from the beginning. From before COVID-19. From before cars. From before the United States. From before even the rocks and the stars. God’s love and grace haven’t changed for thousands of years. Do you think God’s going to change now? No way! You have something sure and certain. Cling to the One who is from the beginning!
