God Did It Himself!

“I’ll just have to do it myself!” How often do you say that? Other people often don’t share our priorities. They often don’t have our same urgency or expectations. So sometimes if you want something done and done well, you just have to do it yourself. Of course, our sinful pride is usually in the picture too. We think we can do it better than everyone else anyway!

God once said the same thing—“I’ll just have to do it myself!” Listen: “The Lord looked and was displeased that there was no justice. He saw that there was no one, he was appalled that there was no one to intervene; so his own arm worked salvation for him, and his own righteousness sustained him” (Isaiah 59:16). If someone was going to save us, God had to do it himself. So he did! When we failed and sinned, when we refused to share God’s priorities and perfection, God worked our salvation himself through Jesus’ death on the cross. With God, the driving factor wasn’t his pride. It’s was his great love for you and me. Are you making plans to celebrate God’s salvation in Jesus this Holy Week?
