Did you know that God used the most powerful man in the world to write part of the Bible? Nebuchadnezzar was king of the Babylonian Empire from 605-562 B.C. During most of those years, he would have been considered the most powerful man in the world. Google him! Yet, that powerful king learned the hard way (read Daniel 1-4) that there is a force so much more powerful than he was: God!
So Nebuchadnezzar wrote a whole chapter of the Bible. It starts like this: “It is my pleasure to tell you about the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most High God has performed for me. How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an eternal kingdom; his dominion endures from generation to generation” (Daniel 4:2-3).
Let this powerful man teach us a powerful lesson: Our God has an eternal kingdom and his dominion endures forever. God can’t be voted out. God will never give up his throne. No uprising or revolution can shake his control. No sickness or natural disaster will ever end his time as King. Isn’t that good news? The One ruling the universe is and will always be the God who loves us enough to die for us. No matter what happens in our world, you know who reigns forever. What a blessing to be part of God’s eternal kingdom!
