I saw a woman knitting recently. Do you knit? It amazes me how much care and time and dedication go into knitting something together. I couldn’t do it! Knitting is a labor of love—especially love for whomever that knitted gift is meant.
So it shouldn’t surprise us that the Bible uses that word—knit—for how God has carefully created us. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13). Can you picture God knitting you together—heart, lungs, eyes, mind…—just the way he wanted you to be? You’re no accident! Could there be a better word for the grace God has shown in creating human life? He wants you and me—and every unborn baby—to live, to see his love for us Jesus, and to live with him in heaven. God loves life, and God loves you. He knit you together!
