He Restores My Soul

How do you restore your soul? We’ve figured it out with computers or Wi-Fi: Just restart it. Or unplug it and plug it in again. How often don’t you wish you could do that with your soul? With your life? Restart it. Take back the last few years—or decades. Restore it to a previous condition, when you didn’t know… When you hadn’t done… When they hadn’t hurt you… It seems impossible. So many regrets. So many questions. So much pain. How do you restore your soul?

Jesus can. Actually, that’s exactly what he does as our Good Shepherd: “He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:3). Jesus doesn’t erase your past. He doesn’t make you do your life over again. He does something better: He forgives your sins. All of them! He lets you see his hand working in your life. He promises that everything works out for your good. Then, he promises that one day you will be in heaven where everything will be perfect forever. You live in God’s love and grace—now and always. You know what that does? Restores you. Jesus restores my soul!
