“How long, Lord, how long?” Are you asking that question today? Is there a struggle, a heath issue, a heartbreak, or a specific sin that keeps plaguing you? “How long, Lord, how long?” If you’re asking that question, you’re not alone. Your brothers and sisters in Christ are facing struggles too, and they’re praying like David did long ago: “My soul is in deep anguish. How long, LORD, how long?” (Psalm 6:3).
Thankfully, David’s prayer of “how long” wasn’t prayed out of hopelessness. It was prayed out of trust in the same God who had saved him, forgiven him, and watched over him so many times before. That’s why he could confidently add this: “Turn, LORD, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love” (Psalm 6:4). In distress, in despair, in the struggle, we trust in God’s unfailing love.
