Jesus won’t send you away hungry.
Great crowds of people were following Jesus. For three days, he healed the sick and preached the good news of God. But it was what he said after those three days that best revealed his heart: “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way” (Matthew 15:32).
Jesus had compassion on those people—on both their souls and their bodies. He wasn’t in a hurry to get rid of them. He was always in a hurry to care for them. So Jesus had those hungry crowds sit down, and he fed over 4,000 people with seven loaves of bread. When those people finally went home, their souls and stomachs were full. Jesus won’t send you away hungry.
I bet you’re hungry. Maybe your stomach is hungry right now. Isn’t it amazing how Jesus feeds us? Every bit of food that we eat is a gift from our compassionate Savior. He doesn’t send us away hungry!
But even if your stomach is full, I know your soul is hungry. For forgiveness. For love. For purpose. I hope you’ve learned that Jesus fills your soul too. His Word is filled with the hope and promises our hungry souls need. His cross is proof of the forgiveness we crave. Jesus won’t send you away hungry!
