Keep on Growing!

Do you ever find yourself cheering on your plants in the spring? When you see the first flowers or vegetables start to spout, you’re thinking, “Come on! Don’t stop. Keep on growing!” What a disappointment it would be if daffodils poked up through the ground, but then stopped growing and didn’t produce flowers. What a disappointment it is when your pumpkin plant has a nice green vine, but doesn’t produce any pumpkins. You cheer on your plants: Keep on growing!

Did you know that’s the same encouragement God gives us? “Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18). Keep on growing! You know the temptation. The devil wants to convince you that you’ve heard enough. That you know enough. That you’ve got the God stuff down. But like a plant, you were made to keep growing. Baptized? Great! What a blessing! Confirmed? Great! But “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” There is so much more grace and knowledge of Jesus that God has for you. There are so many more fruits that God and his Word can produce in your life. God’s cheering you one. Keep on growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus!
