Death is certain. It’s unavoidable. That’s something just about all people can agree on. You can take all the vitamins you want. You can exercise like crazy. But you’re still going to die. As the old saying goes, “There is nothing certain except death and taxes.”
Actually, there is one more thing. There is one more thing that is as certain as death itself. Know what it is? Eternal life. Listen to the Bible’s promise: “Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fall asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:20-22).
Do you hear God’s promise? Just as all will die, it is absolutely certain that all will be made alive. Just as Adam brought death into the world through his sin in the Garden of Eden, it is absolutely certain that Jesus brought eternal life into the world through his resurrection. Life is as sure as death!
The only question is where you’re going to spend eternity. There are only two options: heaven or hell. Today’s the day to take your faith seriously. Today’s the day to treasure God’s Word. Today’s the day to love the Lord with all your heart. Because life is as sure as death, and eternal life in heaven is yours through faith in Jesus Christ.
