What will our bodies be like in heaven? Ever wondered that? The Bible doesn’t tell us all the little details we might like to know. I don’t know what color your hair will be! But here’s what it says, “Someone may ask, ‘How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?’ How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body….So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body” (1 Corinthians 11:45-44).
Have you planted any seeds yet this spring? Seeds are amazing creations of God. You put this little, brown, hard, dead thing in the ground and do nothing. Then, at God’s time, a beautiful plant grows up that’s so much bigger and better than the little seed was. How does that happen? It’s God’s miracle!
That same miracle is what’s going to happen to your body. Your body is going to be planted in the ground dead and dry. But that’s not the end of the story! At God’s time, at the Last Day, he’s going to raise our bodies up again. You will be you, but you will be different. In a good way! Like that little seed grows up into something so much more magnificent, God’s going to raise up your body into something you can’t even quite imagine right now on earth. It’s still going to be you, but so much different.
Just know this: With your new body, you won’t ever die again. You won’t ever get sick again. You won’t ever be weak again. You’ll be imperishable. Glorious. You are seeing new life all around. The seeds are sprouting and growing. As you do, remember God’s promise: That’s going to be you! Like a seed…
