Your body is wearing out. Mine is too. That’s not a happy thought! What used to be easy now is a chore. What used to be fun now is a pain. How often do you look at little children jumping around and think, “I could never do that…” We’re wearing out. The affects of sin and death are clear in our physical bodies.
So remember this, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever” (Psalm 73:26). What you see with your eyes and feel with your physical body don’t tell the whole story. You have a strength—God your Savior—that never fails. You have a portion—an inheritance in heaven—that will never spoil or fade. Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, and he’s redeemed us from death and hell. As you see your body wearing out, may God give you the confidence to say, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
