Never Stop Pondering

Christmas is over. Now what? Do you know what Mary did after Christmas? After the shepherds went home, “Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart” (Luke 2:19). Here’s what Mary did: She took the Christmas message that she had heard from the angels and the shepherds, and she pondered it over and over again in her heart and mind. Even Mary needed time for God’s grace to sink in. Even Mary needed to hear that Christmas message over and over for it to hit home.

Never stop pondering God’s grace to you in Jesus. Don’t let the message of Christmas get packed away with the decorations and the trees. You need it. I need it! Ponder Christ anew each day. He was born for you. He came for you. A Savior. The Savior! Treasure those truths and ponder them in your heart.

Mary needed them when she soon had to flee to Egypt. I bet she needed them when she lost her husband Joseph. When she watched her Son die on the cross. It was God’s Word treasured and pondered in her heart that gave her peace. That gave her strength. Never stop pondering Jesus’ birth.
