Nothing New to God

It seems so new. A new virus racing around the world. Restrictions and cancellations that most of us haven’t seen in our lifetimes. Uncertainty and anxiety that suddenly cloud our days. It seems so new!

It isn’t. Sickness, plague, death? These are dangers God’s people have had to face ever since the fall into sin wrecked our world. We’re not the only ones. We won’t be the last ones. Others have faced the same challenges. God was with them. God is with you! May this believer’s trust in God give you confidence:

“Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, or the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you” (Psalm 91:3-7).

Sickness, plague, death… It’s nothing new. God has strengthened and guided his people before, and God will do it again. Whether your greatest worry is a terror in the night, an accident during the day, or a sickness that silently spreads, you don’t have to be afraid. God’s seen it before. He’s got you under his wings.
