This past Thursday was Earth Day. Did you celebrate? The earth God has created for us is certainly a reason for us to give thanks to God. From the dirt to the mountains, it’s big. It’s cool. It’s old. It’s just what we need to survive. As you look around our Earth, think of these words from Moses: “Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God” (Psalm 90:1-2).
God is older than dirt. Have you ever thought about that? In God’s case, that’s a good thing! Those mountains you see? That dirt you’re plowing or planting? God was around long before it was. This whole time—from everlasting to everlasting—God has been God. His faithfulness has endured throughout all generations. Year after year after year after year… Do you think God’s going to suddenly change now? No way! You have a Foundation even firmer than the Earth you stand on. In our constantly changing world, this is what our faith is based on: The faithfulness of our everlasting God. He’s older than dirt!
