Our Fortress

Where do you run to when you’re afraid? Whom do you turn to when you’re scared? In ancient times, everybody knew the answer. You run to the castle! You knew you’d be safe in those strong walls. It’s too bad we don’t have fortresses like that anymore. I bet right now you feel pretty vulnerable. I bet you wish you had a castle to hide in. A place where you could feel safe and secure and loved.

You do! Here is the Bible’s promise: “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust’” (Psalm 91:1-2). I know you might feel isolated. I know it might seem like you’re on an island by yourself. That couldn’t be further from the truth! You rest right now in the shadow of our Almighty God. He is your refuge. Where you do run to when you’re afraid? Your fortress! You’re safe and secure and loved by Jesus.
