There’s a lot of water! If you live anywhere in the Midwest, chances are you’ve been near flooding over the past week. In my city of Green Bay, schools were even cancelled for a “flood” day. There’s no more helpless feeling than watching the waters rise and knowing that there’s nothing you can do.
Except trust in God. He makes his people this promise, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you” (Isaiah 43:2). Nowhere does God promise an easy life for Christians. Waters—whether real floodwaters or the troubles of life—will come. But what’s God’s promise? “I will be with you!” Sometimes those waters seem extra deep—like a big river! What’s God’s promise? “They will not sweep over you.” Like a father holding up his children in the deep end of the pool, God will hold your head up, even as the waters rise. May Jesus your Savior give you hope and strength as you face the waters today!
