Saying Grace

Instagram and Facebook are starting to replace God in our lives. Here’s proof: In the past, before people would eat a meal together, what would they do? Say grace. Pray! Give thanks to God for their food. Now days, before people eat a meal together, what do they do? Take a picture and post it on Instagram or Facebook. Just look around the next time you eat at a restaurant – or look at your own Facebook page! Instead of saying thanks to God, “saying grace” now means sharing pics of your food with your friends.

What about in your family? If you’re looking for ways to connect God to your family’s daily life, try this: Give thanks to God before you eat. Many Christians use an ancient prayer from God’s people long ago: “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever” (Psalm 136:1). Before every meal, before you take a picture, give thanks to the LORD. And don’t just stop with the food. For health and strength and forgiveness and grace and Jesus Christ our Savior. Put your phone down and say grace the old-fashioned way: “Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!”
