Seek the LORD This Christmas

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).

Whether they know it or not, everyone is seeking the Lord, especially at Christmas. Everyone is looking for meaning and purpose and joy. Do you know where to find the Lord? Not at the store, even if there are great sales. Not at a football game, even if your favorite team is playing. Not at a holiday party, even in the best decorated house. Not on Santa’s lap or next to an elf on the shelf. Everyone is seeking meaning and purpose and joy at Christmas. But it’s too easy to look in all the wrong places.

Do you know where to find the Lord? This is important! You find Jesus in a humble manger, where no one would have expected him. Because Jesus didn’t come to impress us but to live for us. Do you know where to find the Lord? You find Jesus on a humble cross, where no one would have expected him. Because Jesus didn’t come to entertain us but to save us from our sins. Do you know where to find the Lord? You find Jesus in the quiet words of the Bible’s life-changing message of grace and forgiveness.

This Christmas, don’t look for Jesus in all the wrong places. Your heart will be left craving more. Instead, “seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6). Find Jesus at the manger. On the cross. In his Word. This humble Baby in the manger? “This, this is Christ the King!”
