There are times in my life when I don’t know what to say to God. I get so discouraged, so hopeless, that I don’t even know what to pray for. Does that happen to you too? It’s a helpless feeling. When we’re in the depths, we know that we can pray to God, but what if we don’t even know what to pray for?
Don’t worry. There’s Someone praying exactly the right prayers for you. Do you know who it is? “The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans” (Romans 8:26). You’re not alone. You’re never alone, even in prayer. The Holy Spirit lives inside you. He understands your struggle and your weakness more than you do. And he’s praying for you. The Holy Spirit is interceding for you to God the Father all the time every day. Isn’t that comforting? When you don’t even know what to pray for, the Holy Spirit prays for you.
