Do you ever feel overwhelmed? Afraid? Like the whole world is against you? The prophet Elisha’s servant in the Bible did. The entire army of the country of Aram was out to get Elisha and him. Imagine that—an entire country’s army against two people, and one of them is you! How do you think that servant felt? Afraid!
But Elisha wasn’t afraid. As the enemy army surrounded them, Elisha calmly told his servant, “Don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” What? Was the old prophet crazy? No! Elisha prayed, “O LORD, open his eyes so he may see.” Then the LORD opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha (2 Kings 6:16-17). It wasn’t a whole army against Elisha and his servant. It was a whole army against Elisha, his servant, and the angels of God! Those same angels surround you. Always! So “don’t be afraid. Those who are with us are more than those who are with them!” Do you think our Savior Jesus who died for us is ever going to be abandon us? No way! Don’t ever forget who’s on your side.
