“I don’t know what to say!” Ever said that? I have! Especially when it comes to talking about faith in Jesus. I want to share Jesus, but I don’t know what to say! How about you? We’re not alone. In fact, some of the most famous preachers of God’s Word have felt exactly the same way—like Moses. Here’s how he put it: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue” (Exodus 4:10). Not eloquent? Slow of speech and tongue? I can relate to that. “Lord, I don’t know what to say!”
God had the best answer for Moses’ concerns. He said, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say” (Exodus 4:11-12). What God says is true, isn’t it? He gave us our mouths. He gave us our tongues. He fills our hearts with his forgiveness and the message of Jesus our Savior. Nothing depends on your eloquence or on my wisdom. In fact, it’s not about you or me at all. So go, God will help you speak and will teach you what to say.
