What You See Isn’t What You Get

I read recently that the average American has gained five pounds during the pandemic. I’ve seen a lot of social media memes joking that masks are needed just to keep us from eating so much. So how content are you with your body right now? We don’t need a pandemic to be reminded that our bodies aren’t perfect—not even close! Whether it’s our weight or height or strength or an illness, our bodies aren’t what we want them to be, and they’re definitely not moving in the right direction. Every day, each one of our bodies grows older. Sin’s effect on our physical bodies is hard to ignore.

So here’s God’s promise in the Bible: The Lord Jesus Christ, “by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body” (Philippians 3:21). What you see isn’t what you get! The lowly body your soul lives in right now isn’t your forever home. When Jesus returns on Judgment Day, he is going to raise up your body and transform it into something glorious. You will be glorious! All the sickness and struggles and sin will be gone. Because Jesus Christ has saved us—body and soul. How great to know that what you see isn’t what you get!
