Do you ever feel worthless? Isn’t that a terrible feeling? There’s hardly anything worse than feeling like you’re worth nothing at all. The Bible pinpoints what the problem is. Here’s how the Israelites in the Old Testament are described: “They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless. They imitated the nations around them although the Lord had ordered them, ‘Do not do as they do,’ and they did the things the Lord had forbidden them to do” (2 Kings 17:15). Why worthless? They worshiped worthless things, turned away from God, and imitated the godless people around them. If that’s how you live your life, how are you going to feel? Worthless! Make sense?
What’s the answer? Listen to this, “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith” (Galatians 3:26). Here’s who you are in Jesus—God’s child! Your worth doesn’t come from you. Your worth certainly doesn’t come from world. Your worth comes from Jesus, who considered you so valuable that he died on the cross for you. God says that through faith in Jesus, you are God’s own child. You! What could possibly be better than that? Whenever you feel worthless, find your worth in Jesus!
