You Already Know Who’s King

It’s Election Day. Have you noticed? Most of us will be thankful to stop seeing endless political ads—at least for the next month or two. All of us have concerns about the future of our world, our country, our families…

So on Election Day, please remember something. You already know who’s in power. You already know who has total control over the entire universe, including the United States of America. Who is it? Jesus! At the end of the Bible, Jesus’ disciple John got to see heaven standing open, and there was Jesus, riding a white horse like a victorious conqueror. Here is Jesus’ name: “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:16). Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords! Isn’t that comforting?

The future of the world doesn’t depend on who wins this election—or any election. The future of this country doesn’t depend on which political party is in power. The future of your life doesn’t depend on any man or woman. It all depends on Jesus Christ, the King of king and Lord of lords.

Here’s the best part: Do you know what our King of kings and Lord of lords has done? He died on the cross for you and me to forgive all our sins. He rose from the dead for you and me to give us eternal life in heaven. He promises that nothing in life can separate you and me from his love. He promises that every single thing that happens in our lives is part of his loving plan to save us by his grace.

No matter what the result of today’s election is, nothing changes. You are still the child of God by faith in Jesus. Jesus is still the King of kings and Lord of lords. So take a deep breath. Rest easy. You already know who’s King: Jesus!
